Courtney and I met while we were both attending College in Belleville, oddly enough we were both in relationships that ended around the same time. Even thought neither of us had intended to date, it became very obvious that there was a connection and we began to hang out more, even weirder, it wasn't until a classmate had asked us how long we had been dating that we both started to see one another in a new light. Shortly after we finally became a couple and never looked back.

Living in two different cites definitely made things difficult but we tried to see each other at least once a week, which ultimately meant Courtney would drive on her day off from Oshawa to see me in Brampton. But then by coincidence, my mother ended up buying her dream home in Courtice, which now meant I would now only be a 10 minute drive from Courtney. More and more I began to believe that we were meant to be.

After a few years we moved in together and got our first apartment, although while in college we had roomed together so there was no real shock as to how messy I was and how particular she was, at this point we knew what we were getting into and for the most part, loved every second of it.

Obviously as we started to get older our friends slowly started to get married and Courtney's ever so subtle hints became very clear that she was "patiently" waiting for a ring, I had every intention on doing so, unfortunately due to lack of funds she had to wait a few years. But all that was important was that we were in love. At least that's what I told myself!

So skip ahead a few years and we arrive at January of 2013 and Kim - Courtney's best friend - Got engaged. As the girls screamed and jumped up and down in excitement, I congratulated Mat and told him that I was going to propose to Courtney that summer. I knew that Kim and Courtney had always dreamed of being brides at the same time, I'm pretty sure they got the idea from "Bride Wars", but never the less I wanted to make that happen.

Originally since we met in college while taking a course on Film and Television Production, I had wanted to propose to Courtney by filming a short movie trailer about our lives and air it in a movie theatre along with the other previews before a movie and at the end of the trailer, I would get down on one knee and well you know how it goes, but the movie theatre wanted to charge way too much money to make that happen so I reverted to my other talent and that was music. There was only one problem, in the last 10 years I've attempted to write songs on numerous occasions and gave up as it never seemed to go the way I wanted, but this time, I had achieved the impossible, I finally wrote a song, the song I would use to propose to Courtney.

Now lets take a step back and remember how Kim got engaged in January, well, Courtney was the Maid of Honour and she was helping Kim pick out venues for her wedding when Courtney told me about a venue she fell inlove with and would want to get married at. Now I wasn't planning on proposing for a few more weeks, but Courtney was having a really rough month and I wanted her to have something positive to take from it so I said, lets take a look at this Marina, see how it is at night and I'll let you know if I like the place. So we drove down and just before Dusk I confessed to her that I in fact did the impossible and wrote my first song and asked if she wanted to hear it, she said yes and so it began. If you've heard the song you know that in the las line I say, "will you marry me?". At which point i'm down on one knee with the ring. Court was so surprised that she completely forgot to answer the question, but the fact that she quickly put the ring on her finger was a good sign in my books.

Directly after we drove around, Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville trying to find Kim, Jen and Rachel to tell them the good news. So now you know a little more about us and how we got to this place we call, "Being Engaged".

You can hear the engagement song HERE.
